I was dreaming of the fast train to Bursa

High-speed train to Bursa was a dream: The Bursa-Bilecik high-speed train project, which will connect Bursa to the railway network for the first time in the 93-year history of the republic, has been stopped for 20 months.

On 23 December 2012, the construction of 700 tunnels between Bursa and Yenişehir was completed in a short period of 11 year in the project of 1 million lira, which was started by Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç, Minister of Transport Binali Yıldırım, Minister of Labor and Social Security Faruk Çelik by laying the foundation of Bursa station in Nilüfer Balat. However, no work has been done for 20 months on the grounds that the route to be connected to Bilecik will be changed after Yenişehir.

One of the major projects of the AK Party government and Turkey, which is a pillar of the work with the high-speed train network equipment Bursa-Bilecik-speed train project is 20 months due to the uncertainty awaits. When the Bursa high speed train line was completed, it would be integrated with the Ankara-Istanbul high speed line. YSE Yapı-Tepe İnşaat joint venture has received the infrastructure of the 105-kilometer section between Bursa and Yenişehir of the 75-kilometer project, which will be connected to the Ankara-Istanbul line from Bilecik, for 393 million lira. The work with 11 tunnels between Bursa and Yenişehir was to be completed in 2015. The application projects of the 30-kilometer Yenişehir-Vezirhan-Bilecik section have been completed. However, in this project, a change of route came to the agenda on the grounds that a hard ground was encountered and there were problems in tunnel work. The line, built for a speed of 250 kilometers, will run at 200 kilometers per hour for passenger trains and 100 kilometers for freight trains. 13 million cubic meters of excavation and 10 million cubic meters of filling will be carried out in the construction of high speed train. A total of 152 art structures will be built. Approximately 43 kilometers of the line will consist of tunnels, viaducts and bridges. When the project, which is aimed to be commissioned in 2016, was completed, the distance between Bursa and Bilecik would be 35 minutes, Bursa-Eskişehir 1 hour, Bursa-Ankara 2 hours 15, Bursa-İstanbul 2 hours 15, Bursa-Konya 2 hours 20 minutes, Bursa-Sivas distance would decrease to 4 hours. . Within the scope of the project, a high-speed train station would be built in Bursa and Yenişehir, and a high-speed train station would be built at the airport in Bursa. The construction of these 3 buildings could not be done so far.

Politicians in Bursa do not have clear information about the high speed train between Bursa and Bilecik. Hüseyin Şahin, who was a member of parliament in both periods of the process, said that he witnessed that the State Railways worked feverishly regarding the route change between Yenişehir and Bilecik. Şahin said, “TCDD turns the route between Yenişehir and Bilecik into a fork. In other words, trains going to Istanbul and Ankara will go in different ways. Due to this change, there was a delay in projecting. We hope that the production between Yenişehir and Bilecik will restart soon ”.

Meanwhile, citizens cannot understand why the YSE structure, which works between Bursa and Yenişehir, has stopped working. It is claimed that there is a problem in the tender regarding the 75-kilometer route between Bursa and Yenişehir, where many tunnels and art structures will be built in the city, and the tenders have been examined at the Court of Accounts. The public in Bursa is waiting for a statement from Bursa MPs and the State Railways administration.
