Last 20 Meters in Eurasia Tube Crossing Project

The Last 20 Meters in the Eurasia Tube Crossing Project: Light appeared in the Eurasia Project, where drilling processes are ongoing. The last 20 meters of the excavation in the tunnel will be completed tomorrow with the participation of Prime Minister Davutoğlu.

One of Turkey's most prestigious project is coming to life again. After Marmaray, which is considered as the project of the century and continues to serve, an important step is lagging behind in the Eurasia Tube Passage Project. In the project, which started to work in April 2014, the drilling operations for the tunnel under the sea continued without slowing down. It is learned that the last 20 meters of the tunnel is now left to be excavated, and tomorrow this process will come to an end.

THE MOST HARDER CHAPTER IS BACK
Drilling operations 27 meters below the Bosphorus will end with a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu. After the 5.4-kilometer-long drilling process, the excavating machine will land under the sea. After this stage, which is shown as the most difficult part of the project, is left behind, construction work will begin for the tube crossing without losing time. When the Eurasia Tunnel Project is completed, it will serve on the Kazlıçeşme-Göztepe line, where Istanbul traffic is heavy. The project, covering a route of 14.6 kilometers in total, will consist of a two-storey tunnel under the sea and connection tunnels to be built with different methods. In addition, road expansion and improvement works will be carried out on a total of 9.2 kilometers on the European and Asian sides. With the Eurasia Tunnel coming into service, the travel time will decrease from 100 minutes to 15 minutes on a route with the busiest traffic in Istanbul.

PROJECT RECEIVED AWARD
Feridun Bilgin, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, announced that 2 thousand 124 people were working in the project and 250 construction machines were used. The project, which sets an example in terms of occupational safety and environmental and social application, was also deemed worthy of the "Best Environmental and Social Application Award" by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The project, which will be implemented with the build-operate-transfer model, is realized with a financing of 1 billion 245 million dollars.
