Urban Transport Network of the Latvian Capital City

The In-City Transport Network of Latvian Capital Rigan Expands: The button was pressed to expand the tram line in Riga, the capital of Latvia. In the announcement made by Riga city transport operator Rigas Satiksme, it was stated that it was decided to expand the tram network in Riga by 3,6 km. The line to be built is within the scope of the project of renovation and development of urban transportation, which was previously decided.

The line to be built in the northeast region of the city will be located along the Pernavas iela, Sencu iela, Zirnu iela, Skanstes iela and Sporta iela direction. The planned project includes 12 units with low floor trams for the line.

The total cost of the project was announced as 90 million Euros. 76 million euros of this amount will be covered by the European Union funds. The remaining amount will be covered by the state. The line is expected to be completed by 2023.
