Within the scope of Aksaray Square Project, two tram stations are being combined: The building belonging to Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ) will be demolished and green space and underground parking will be constructed. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality decided to demolish the building, which came to the fore as a city hotel, to build a green space and an underground car park.
VIADUCTS ARE LIVING
With the project, the construction of which started in 2012, the viaduct in front of İSKİ will be removed. The pedestrianization of the square will be completed by removing the vehicle viaduct at the intersection of Vatan and Millet Avenue and the Aksaray Viaduct in front of the Pertevniyal Mosque.
UNINTERRUPTED SPREAD TRANSPORT BETWEEN YENİKAPI-AKSARAY
With the demolition of the İSKİ building, uninterrupted transportation will be provided for pedestrians in the section from Aksaray Square to Yenikapı Marmaray station. Once the stage is completed, the square will be approximately three times the size of 62 thousand square meters of Çağlayan Square, with a pedestrianized area of 22 thousand square meters.
TWO TRAMVAY STATIONS COMBINED
With the Meydan project, vehicles coming from Vatan and Millet Avenue will be directed to Yenikapı, Beyazıt and Saraçhane with signaling systems. The flow system will be established in the region according to the density of the traffic, and the pedestrian transition priority arrangement will be made. Meanwhile, Yusufpaşa and Aksaray tram stations will be canceled and become one station.
