How Nostalgic Tram Works

How Nostalgic Tram Works: Zero Exhaust

The nostalgic tram, which serves in the Taksim-Tunnel line and is the current example of electric trams today, is an environmental transportation vehicle that works with electricity. There is a power station (transformer) in Tünel for the operation of the line. Here, the energy that is given to the route through the overhead line reaches the motors by means of the arc on the tramway. In the controllers located on the front and rear of the car, the speed is increased and lowered by means of the steps 1 to 9. The trolley has three separate brake systems, automatic engine, rail and handbrake. Vatman uses whichever one of them is needed. At the last stops, the tram handles the mechanical brake when the tram is fixed. The engine brake and the rail brake are used in the event of an emergency or an accident.

Protection priority on rails

According to the braking distance of all other vehicles, the tram stops at maximum 1-2 meters according to the acceleration and load situation. While the vehicle is driven by the metal wheel running on the rail, the outer part of the wheel is wrapped in a bandage to prevent the rails from being worn. The priority of the material is the protection, because it is the hardest material. For long life, the rail must be protected. Then comes the bandage and finally the brake block.
