Subcontractor Highway Workers Quit Work in Denizli: Subcontractor workers working at the 27th Branch Chief of Highways in Denizli started a work stoppage action on the grounds that they received their wages late and that their overtime wages were not paid.
27 workers, who were affiliated with the subcontractor company in the Highways 95th Branch Office, stopped working. Workers who try to make their voices heard by sitting in the Chef's Lounge in İncilipınar District; He stated that the problem is not limited to Denizli only, and that his fellow workers working in Aydın, Manisa, Muğla and İzmir also suffer the same.
Workers who said that they had to get their monthly wages on the 15th of each month, the subcontractor made late payments for various excuses and that overtime wages were not paid. “We worked 80 hours a month during the winter season. They paid 20 hours overtime. Also, overtime wages are falling with each passing year. The subcontractor company disregards our safety and health in order to make more profit. We want a solution to the problems we are experiencing, ”he said.
Yol-İş Union Denizli Branch Secretary Hikmet Öcel talked with the workers and tried to dissuade them from the strike. Saying that they want the employees to return to work so that they do not have severance pay and vested rights, Öncel said, “According to the contract made with the company, not going to work for one day means being fired and not paying severance pay. Company officials say that no payments have been made from the General Directorate of Highways. Negotiations are continuing, ”he said.
Meanwhile, a group of CHP subcontracted workers visited and supported them. It was noted that whether the action of the workers will continue tomorrow or not will be determined after the meeting they will hold among themselves.
