Stating that Istanbulites love Marmaray very much, Bilgin stated that an average of 120 thousand citizens traveled with Marmaray last year. Stating that the number of passengers transported by Marmaray per week has reached an average of 180 thousand people this year, Bilgin said, "We estimate that an average of 200 thousand Istanbulites will use Marmaray, especially in the summer months".
