Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) Konya Branch President Lütfi Şimşek and his entourage made examinations in Aladağ in Derbent district, where a work was done to make Konya a winter sports center. Şimşek told reporters that they saw that the work was continuing at a rapid pace.
Stating that Aladağ is still covered in white even though there is no snow in the city center and districts, Şimşek said, “We also look at this place as an investor. "A citizen who comes to the city center by plane or high-speed train will have the chance to climb over 50 thousand meters and reach both blue and red lane ski runs here with a distance of roughly 2 kilometers," he said.
Stating that they always try to support Aladağ in building a ski resort, Şimşek stated that the center will add a plus value to the city and will provide an opportunity for outdoor tourism outside the ski season.
Derbent Mayor Hamdi Acar stated that they have accelerated efforts to open the ski resort in the coming winter months.
Explaining that they will visit Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu with Konya deputies in the coming days, Acar said, “We will demand our Prime Minister to support us in declaration of Aladağ Ski Center as a tourism center with the decision of the Council of Ministers and to accelerate this”.
