”We want a safe access to women“

Students gathered in front of the Lütfi Kırdar Fair and Congress Center and crossed the Bosphorus Bridge to the Anatolian side. In Mersin, Özgecan Aslan's brutal massacres and protestors against women in order to oppose violence, students from time to time experienced minor accidents. During the trip, no serious accidents occurred in the group accompanied by medical staff. During the crossing of the Bosphorus Bridge for cyclists, the side road was closed to the motor vehicle traffic for 20 minutes and the bikes were provided.

Istanbul University Cycling Club sözcüSü Feyza Keskin said, “We are here for 8 March International Working Women's Day. We decided to organize this organization based on the murder of Özgecan Aslan in traffic while returning home on February 11. First of all, Özgecan's murder prompted us to take action. We are here for all women who have been oppressed, exposed to violence, harassed and raped until today. We want the next 8 March to pass not in the mood of mourning, but in an atmosphere of celebration. "We want the right to safe transportation for women," he said, "We will ride the Bosphorus Bridge together".

Keskin stated that more than a thousand bicyclists participated in the event. So we're thinking of going to a lot more. We don't just want to simplify this, but we are experiencing the same problem on bicycles, not just in this way, but also in services, buses or transportation. We think that everyone should have the necessary training, that the laws should provide the necessary assurance, and that there must be sanctions. Herkes
