The silhouette of the Bay Bridge began to emerge: The most important crossing point of the Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway Project, which will reduce the journey between Istanbul and Izmir highway to 3.5 hours, began to emerge as the skyline of the Bay Bridge.
After the guide cables taken in February, the temporary walkway assembly will be installed on the bridge to the last stage and the main cables will be towed at the end of this month. This work is on the bridge where crews assemble temporary walkways on both sides.
There is a section of 200 meters for each of the walking path, also known as the 'catwalk'. While these works continue on the bridge, transportation roads and viaduct constructions continue in Dilovası and Altınova Herzegovina region. These roads are also largely completed and asphalt poured. Unless there is a delay in the program, the main cables that will carry the decks where the vehicles will pass will be started to be installed on the line, which is now seen in silhouette, by the end of this month.
Later, the tables will be laid by vehicles. These works are expected to be completed in June, while the bridge can be reached by foot. The bridge is expected to open to vehicle traffic at the end of the year.
