Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Feridun Bilgin said, “Another action that will affect urban transportation throughout the country is to develop the only payment system that will be valid for transportation within the country. A feasibility study has been prepared by our ministry for this project ”.
“Urban Transportation Workshop” was held at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Maslak Campus. The Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Feridun Bilgin, ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca and Yalova University Rector Prof. Dr. Niyazi Eruslu also attended. At the opening of the workshop, Minister Bilgin made a speech.

Minister Feridun Bilgin stated that the Levent-Hisarüstü Metro, whose construction was completed in Istanbul, will be opened soon, and said, “3. We have started our project work on the metro line that will connect the airport to Gayrettepe. We have also undertaken the construction of Yenikapı-İncirli, İncirli-Sefaköy metro lines ”.
Minister Bilgin drew attention to smart transportation systems in his speech and said “When it comes to smart transportation systems; We are talking about the whole of applications that will play an important role in the reflection of systematic and standardization principles to practice, and that will directly solve traffic congestion and chaos. Our Ministry, seeing the need in this regard, has carried out a study with broad participation. "The smart transportation systems strategy document and action plan, which is the basic roadmap of our country in this field, have been prepared with your invaluable participation and contribution." Feridun Bilgin said, “We plan to implement adaptive green space in at least one corridor in city centers during the action plan period within the scope of the regulation of traffic lights and signs in a way to improve traffic flow and efficiency. Establishing traffic management centers that will affect urban transportation in all major cities until 2023. We have very successful municipalities in this field. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Traffic Control Center has shown significant and excellent developments since its establishment ”.
ONE PAYMENT SYSTEM IN THE COUNTRY
Minister Bilgin said, “Another action that will affect urban transportation throughout the country is to develop the single payment system that will be valid for transportation within the country. A feasibility study has been prepared by our ministry for this project. The foundation of a single payment system is the establishment of a clearing center. We foresee the establishment of a netting center and a pilot implementation by 2016 ”.
INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS
Feridun Bilgin stated that they foresee to make smart stops on at least one route in all metropolitan cities until 2016 in order to increase the applications of smart transportation systems in public transportation, “It is known that we have very successful municipalities in this regard. However, we aim to see this practice on one route in the central districts of all major cities. The development of local mobile passenger information system applications in big cities during the action plan period is another action. "Our citizen will be able to learn information about the route he will use before leaving the house, such as traffic density, traffic accident, road repair maintenance and weather, with various web-based applications."
