Connection roads on the 3rd bridge will end in 2018

  1. Connection roads on the bridge will end in 2018: Cahit Turhan, General Manager of Highways, said that the third bridge connection roads will be completed in 2018.
    Cahit Turhan, General Manager of Highways, reminded that the tender for the connected roads of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge within the scope of the Northern Marmara Motorway Project was postponed until May 6, at the request of the companies, and said, "These connection roads are planned to be completed by the end of 2018".
    Turhan told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the tender date, announced as March 6 for the connection roads of the third bridge to the Bosphorus, Kınalı-Odayeri motorway and Kurtköy-Akyazı motorway, was postponed to May 6, at the request of the companies.
    Explaining that the companies wanted some information about the tender to be clarified, Turhan said, "We postponed the tender date in order to provide information, to make better preparation for the tender and to determine the financing and cost studies more properly."
    Pointing out that it is important to calculate the realistic costs since the costs related to the construction belong to the companies that will undertake the work, Turhan said, “Because income, expenditure and financing cost are the three most important factors here. The expenditure to be made and its return should be well studied. The increase in traffic should be determined well depending on the course of the country's economy ”.
    Turhan said that they were given 90 daily period for the said works and they stated that due to insufficient time in the applications for the tender, the time extension request was evaluated and that the additional period of 2 would be sufficient. Turhan, the companies who want to participate in the tender during this time will deliver the files, he said.
    Turhan noted that the connected roads of the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge were tendered by the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model and that 37 had reviewed the specifications and 12 had purchased the specification.
    Turhan reiterated that they had the tender as a whole, including the third bridge and connection roads in the first place, but did not receive an offer in this tender.
    “Since there is no offer, we have to find the fault ourselves. Here, we could not satisfy the companies in the requests and questions we received on some issues, so the offer did not come. These are actually financing projects rather than construction projects. They want to see clearly the provisions that pose a risk. It is important to be able to prepare a just, fair and willing contract. We prepare contracts in accordance with the changing and developing world conditions. We ensure that some issues are included in a clearer contract by negotiating with the Ministry of Treasury, Development and Finance. "
    Stating that they aim to open Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge into service at the end of the year, Turhan said that they will open a route of 35 kilometers with a total of 95 kilometers of connection roads of the bridge.
    Turhan stated that the connection roads of the bridge, which will be tendered on May 6, are planned to be completed by the end of 2018. Stating that the finalization of the tenders, expropriation procedures and financing process take 1 year, Turhan noted that the company will start the business that requires priority within this period, and that the voluminous works will be done after the financing.
