Avalanche Drill in Erciyes Ski Center: Erciyes Ski Center, Provincial Health Directorate National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) and Disaster and Emergency (AFAD) team, Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) team in partnership with 'Avalanche Search and Rescue' exercise held.
At the Erciyes Ski Center, the Provincial Health Directorate National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) and the Disaster and Emergency (AFAD) team organized a 'Avalanche Search and Rescue' exercise jointly with the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) Team. In the exercise, in the search made by the search and rescue dog in the avalanche region, 1 people were reached and 3 rescued under the snow, as required by the scenario.
In the injuries related to mountaineering and skiing sports of the Health Directorate, an exploration, rescue and first aid exercise was carried out under the avalanche on Erciyes Mountain. According to the scenario, when they climbed Mount Erciyes, the JAK Eagle Nest point was reported to be in the avalanche of 3 climbers from the mountaineer group at the Zümrüt sub-station location. UMKE, led by team leader Nazif Gümüşsoy, kept in the JAK Kartal Slot, and reached the avalanche zone with the JAK team avalanche under the command of AFAD and Gendarmerie Senior Sergeant Birol Serin with snow engines and UTV vehicles. In the area, JAK's search and rescue dog named Ferda made a search with his trainer. Under the avalanche, the living bodies of one climber and the other bodies of the two climbers were reached. AFAD and UMKE teams made excavations with shovels in the region, which is thought to be alive first under the snow. The wounded climber, who was under 1 meter of snow, was removed from his position, placed on a stretcher and delivered to JAK teams. The injured, who was lowered to the ski center with a snowmobile, was later taken to the city center by ambulance. For the other two mountaineers who were thought to be lifeless, the bodies were reached by locating device and then by probing. Since the UMKE team could not get a pulse, two climbers, who had a heart massage, were taken to the ski center by JAK. The exercise ended with the reach of all the climbers.
Following the exercise, the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Health Deputy Director Dr. Dr. Mustafa Yılmaz, officials of the Austrian ICAR-MEDKOM organization. Fidel Elsensohn and Dr. Gerhand said that Barbisch also followed the drill. Dr. Mustafa Yılmaz continued as follows; “40 people participated in the avalanche exercises related to the first aid of mountaineering and skiing, together with JAK, AFAD and Nevşehir, Niğde and Kayseri UMKE teams and non-governmental organizations. It is aimed for the units that perform search and rescue activities to work in harmony. ” Dr. Fidel Elsensohn also stated that the preparations of the rescue teams are very good and said, “We have seen that international standards are acted. Our mission here is that we want the search-rescue activities to contribute to recovery, ”he said.
