Enjoy the snow in Uludağ: In the cities like Istanbul, snow means an ordeal, but snow is a bit of fun. In the winter months, both the stress of the city and the address of those who want to enjoy the taste of the belly, the place where white and green meet Uludag.
The popularity of Uludağ in terms of winter tourism is indisputable, it is one of the first places that comes to mind when it comes to winter and entertainment for years. Fascinating its visitors with its concept that appeals to all ages and audiences, Uludağ is really ideal for having fun in terms of both its scenery and winter sports. As someone who lives in Istanbul, snow often means suffering, locked-in traffic for us. As Istanbulites, we are not a stranger to the land, but after seeing the snow in Uludağ, I was convinced that I did not see snow. There are two ways to go from Istanbul to Uludağ. First of all, if you want to go while cruising around, bus transportation is for you. Your second option is the sea bus. If you are a guarantor like me, if you do not want your hotel reservation to be wasted, choose your preference for the bus. Because due to the winter conditions, flights can be canceled all day long. No, if you insist that I will buy sea air, prepare yourself a plan B for transportation. After talking so many pro-buses, let's say right away, there is no direct bus service to Uludağ from Istanbul. You have to go to Bursa first, it takes about 4 hours by bus from Istanbul to Bursa. To reach Uludağ, you can take the buses to the city center in front of the bus station. After coming to the city center, there are two alternatives for Uludağ. You can either choose the shuttle bus that goes directly from the city center to Uludağ or the cable car ride. If the road is short and you want to see the fascinating atmosphere of Uludağ from above, I recommend using the cable car. The cost of the cable car is 15 TL. The road takes about 25 minutes. You cannot use this service on days with foggy and heavy snowfall. I chose the road again because I was guaranteed. You can reach Uludağ in 12 minutes with shuttle buses for 45 TL under normal conditions, but the intensifying snowfall and fog negatively affect the transportation while climbing the mountain. Also, if we add unconscious drivers trying to reach the top without chains, the road can be a bit boring. There are also trees collapsing and blocking the road. As you can see, an adventurous journey awaits you. We were able to reach the peak in 1.5 hours. Even if the journey is a little tiring and frequent, when you see the top view, all your tiredness is gone. When you see the view of the mountains surrounding you, 3 meters of snow on the ground and pine trees covered with snow, you say to yourself "Yes, we made the right choice."
SNOW GLASSES IMPORTANT
As we arrived at the hotel, we left our bags in the room and threw ourselves into nature. Although everywhere is covered with meters of snow, I can say that the weather was warmer than Istanbul. Do not take a look at what I say hot. Maybe because the clothes I am wearing protect me well, it may have come that way. I won't say buy boots, hats, gloves, scarves with you, if you are already going there, you have thought of these. The main thing you should take with you should be a waterproof snow pants and a jacket that is resistant to cold and water. Regardless of which winter sports you do, you can spend more comfortable time with what I said. And of course, you should definitely have a snow goggles with you. Uludağ's weather is not clear. At any moment, the snow or wind can get louder and you are unable to open your eyes. Let's get to the activities. Of course, winter sports come first. Skiing, ice skating and snowboarding are among the sports activities you can do in Uludağ. If you do not want to do sports, you can witness the unique beauty of the summit more closely with the snow bike. We tried snowboarding. We rented the snowboard for a day for 50 TL. If you are going to snowboard for the first time like us, definitely take lessons from Uludağ's experienced instructors. 1 hour of the lesson is 140 TL. At the end of the 1-hour lesson, we went to the top to see the unique view of Uludağ by cable car for 10 TL (student). And we tried to slide. It was a lot of fun, even though we had small falls from time to time. There were so many newbies around like us. Be you, be very careful. Because accidents while skiing can sometimes have serious consequences.
The summit is not only for skiing. Both the view is awesome and the ambience of the cafe, which is located at the summit, is really nice. There is a huge fireplace inside, burning crispy. We chose sausage-bread as food. I recommend it, it was delicious. I cannot pass without forgetting the friendly and helpful waiters. After filling up and warming up by the fireplace, we went down by the cable car again. In the meantime, we did a lot of nature walks and of course photographed the fascinating nature of Uludağ. When it comes to nightlife, there are not many alternatives, but there are a few places where you can spend time and leave happily. You can either listen to live music or drink your coffee by the fireplace and read your book. Uludağ is a place where you can go with your spouse, child, lover, family and friends and return happily. The taste of this pleasant but short holiday remained in our palate, we consoled each other by saying "We will come again". And we set out to return. On the way back, we chose the cable car to go down. With the minibuses going to the cable car, you can provide transportation for 2 TL per person. The road takes about 20 minutes and you are in Bursa. When you come to Bursa, do not neglect to eat Iskender. We ate in İskender İskenderoğlu, which is 10 minutes away from Bursa city center. And we decided that what we ate before was not Alexander. So much so that there was a line at the door. We waited for 15 minutes, but I heard that there were people waiting in line for 1 hour. The place is not in business, very full sellers. I can't describe the flavor, you need to taste it. Two people fed our stomach for 60 TL and went to the Ulu Mosque, which is very close to here. The mosque is really grand, except the mosques we are used to, and it is definitely worth seeing. After the mosque visit, we thought it was time to return and got on the 38 M bus to go to Bursa Bus Station and ended our weekend holiday here.
