When we came to power, only 25 kilometers of the 54-kilometer road was a state road in Afyonkarahisar as a provincial and state road. But today, half of Afyonkarahisar's roads, that is 50 percent, are divided roads. We are now making Afyonkarahisar uninterrupted with Marmara, Mediterranean and Aegean with its high quality roads. In the past, you used to go to Antalya in 4 hours, today you go in 2 hours, in the past you go to Istanbul in 10-12 hours by bus, today you go in 4 hours and 15 minutes. Work continues in Polatlı. Efforts continue to connect Afyonkarahisar to Antalya with YHT. This will reduce the distance between YHT and Afyon Istanbul to 2023 hours and 2 minutes, which is among the goals of 25. We will reduce the distance between Afyonkarahisar and Izmir to 2 hours. Someone who wants to go from Afyonkarahisar to Sivas goes in 15-16 hours, but as you can see, he goes from Afyonkarahisar to Sivas in 3,5 hours with YHT. As you can see, we will connect the east and west with YHT through divided roads.
We are not satisfied with the YHT, which we did and will do in divided ways. 100-80-90 years ago, when the Republic was founded, nobody touched the railways lines built in the first years until we arrived. Our trains and locomotives were traveling at the speed of a tortoise. When we took over, there was 10 thousand kilometers of railway. We have completely renewed the 10 km of this 8 thousand kilometer railway. As of the end of 500, we will completely overcome all the railways, the remaining 2016 kilometers built before us. Our trains going at a speed of 500-35 kilometers will have traveled with 40 kilometers. We consider not only passenger but also freight transportation. "
A NEW HIGHWAY SUBJECT FROM AFYONKARAHİSAR
Minister Elvan also touched upon the issue of the new motorway project planned to pass through the city.
