Human bones were found during the excavations carried out by the Highways on the Çanakkale-Bursa Highway today. Scattered skull pieces, chin and hand and foot bones were collected one by one by the municipal teams. Previously, human bones were found during road works on the highway on Atatürk Street. As before, the bones found again were collected by the municipal teams one by one in a nylon bag and taken to the district cemetery. The bones are buried in a grave excavated here.
Lapseki Mayor Eyüp Yılmaz from AK Party said, “The region had a city cemetery in the past. Some of the cemetery was martyred. In the early 1960s, during the road works, the cemetery was closed and remained under the road. From time to time, bones can be removed during such road construction works. We bury the bones that come out during the municipal road works or excavations in a special place we do in the city cemetery. It is not nice to have human bones removed during the excavations, but people lived in Lapseki for 2 years. Therefore, half of our city is in the SIT area. ”
