Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway line opens today

Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway line opens today: Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev came to Turkmenistan for an official visit. Nazarbayev will attend the opening ceremony of the railway line connecting Central Asia to the Persian Gulf. Nazarbayev, who came to Ashgabat this morning, was welcomed by the Turkmenistan President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov at the Oğuzhan Mansion with an official ceremony.
Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran international railway line will be opened with a ceremony today. With the opening, the Turkmenistan-Iran section of the railway will come into service. The Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan section of the giant project was opened in May last year. With the commissioning of the railway, a low-cost and fast transportation corridor will be created in Europe, Central and South Asia, in the direction of the Middle East.
With the agreement signed between Kazakhstan, Iran and Turkmenistan in 2007, it is aimed to carry 3-5 million tons of cargo every year on the railway line. The amount of cargo carried in the coming period is expected to increase to 10-12 million tons.
The 82 kilometer of the railway line is Iran, the 700 kilometer is Turkmenistan, and the 120 kilometer passes through the borders of Kazakhstan.
