Ski school for deaf people: Antalya Kayak Specialized Youth and Sports Club has started to work to bring together hearing-impaired, mentally disabled and visually impaired children and young people in skiing courses.
The club management and members gathered under the chairmanship of Bülent Nevcanoğlu and added the course program to their decisions. The club member and coach Metin Ömeroğlu, who stated that the courses will be given at Saklıkent Ski Center, said, “We are in contact with the special education schools and the Provincial Directorate of National Education. We will provide courses and training to our disabled youth in Alpine Discipline, Northern Discipline and Snowboard branches, which are branches of skiing. "We are considering 5 student quotas in the first place for each branch."
Stating that the first course will be for hearing-impaired students, Ömeroğlu said, “We exchanged ideas with our President Bülent Nevcanoğlu and our members. In the first place, we will offer this opportunity to our hearing impaired children. Then we will take the visually impaired young people to ski courses ”.
Emphasizing that they aim to start the first course before the semester break, Antalya Kayak Specialization Youth and Sports Club President Nevcanoğlu said, “Our courses will be completely free. The aim here is to contribute to our disabled people as a club and help them gain a place in the social environment. For this reason, we aim to open a door for hearing-impaired young people to engage in skiing ”.
