Hyundai Opens Train Factory in Brazil: South Korean car giant Hyundai is preparing to open its first train factory in Brazil. Hyundai Rotem announced plans to open a $ 40 million factory in Araraquara, Sao Paulo state. With this project, Hyundai Rotem will put its second largest plant in the world into production in Brazil.

Meeting with Kyuhwan Han, global president of Hyundai Rotem at an event in Sao Paulo, Brazilian officials announced that they will open the largest train factory in the country. Hyundai Rotem reported that after visiting certain parts of the country and considering the possibilities, it preferred Araraquara, one of the most developed factory cities located 270 km from Sao Paulo.

Hyundai stated that the growth prospects of the Brazilian rail and metro industry are very high and that the world-famous HP, Nestle, Lupo's factories are located in Araraquara and preferred this city. The facility, which is expected to be operational in 2016, will employ 300 people. The company, which envisages 60 percent of production and assembly in Brazil, has assured that Brazil will be in full control over the coming years.

The Korean company runs the "Yellow line", a key link in the Sao Paulo metro. Stating that there are metro and train lines in important parts of the country, Hyundai Rotem announced that the investments planned to be opened will reach half a billion dollars.

Hyundai Rotem, which produces and installs strategic subway and train lines in many countries of the world, had recently built Marmaray's tube passages after the production of a part of Ankara, Istanbul and Adana subways.
