The privatization process of bridges and highways starts again

The privatization process of the bridges and highways starts again: The sale process of the bridges and motorways whose tender was canceled last year has resumed. This time, the new model of public offering is prominent. The sales desk also includes energy production, ports, Halk Sigorta, Halk Emeklilik and Erzurum Winter Olympics.
The process for privatization of the expected freeway and bridges will start again.
In order to start the tender process, which was canceled by the Privatization High Board (ÖYK) at the beginning of last year, work was initiated for the selection of the consultant company. Following the selection of the consultant firm, the new privatization model will be presented to the government and then to the ÖYK. Until the end of the year, the preparation of the new model is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2015.
In the new period, privatization is considered in other areas besides bridges and highways. According to the statement made by Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek to AA, electric power plants, bridges and motorways, as well as some ports and Erzurum Winter Olympics Facilities will be privatized. Halk Sigorta and Halk Emeklilik are also planned to be sold for transfer to Halkbank.
According to the information obtained from STAR, the new model of the bridges and highways stands out as an initial public offering. If this method is preferred, a company will be established. Shares of the company, which is given the right to operate, will be offered to public. The public offering is making an income estimate of 7-8 billion dollars. After the cancellation of the tender for the implementation of the public offering model for the motorways under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways, a legal arrangement was made.
