Russian Railways starts importing high strength rails from domestic mills

Russian Railways started purchasing high-strength rail from domestic manufacturers: Russian Railways (RZD), the railway monopoly that carries out the infrastructure and operation activities of Russia's railways, announced that it has started to purchase high-strength rails with a length of 100 meters each. According to the announcement, Russia's metallurgical companies have learned to manufacture the 100-meter-long rails that railway companies need to build modern main lines. Accordingly, Russian Railways purchased high strength long steels from Evraz Group. It was stated that similar products are expected to be purchased from Mechel company in the spring of 2015.

Russian Railways will use the rails for the mordernization of Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian lines.
