Istanbula Electric Bus Coming

Electric buses come to Istanbul: Mümin Kahveci, General Manager of Istanbul Electric Tram and Tunnel Operations (IETT), stated that Istanbul residents will start transporting them by electric public transportation vehicles in a short time and said, "In 2019, 25 percent of the fleet will be electric."
İETT Turkey's one of the oldest institutions and that they entered into a major attack on public transport in recent years, he said.
Noting that IETT has started to renew its vehicle fleet, Kahveci noted that they have added 2 new vehicles to their fleets in the last 850 years and that approximately 3 thousand of public buses and other public transportation vehicles have been renewed.
Pointing out that there are currently 360 CNG vehicles in the fleet, Kahveci stated that these vehicles consume less fuel, pollute the environment less and make less noise, therefore they will increase the number of CNG vehicles in the fleet.

Pointing out that the electric bus works are continuing and the test applications they have done about this have been successfully completed, Kahveci said, “We will start to transport Istanbulites by electric public transportation vehicles in a short time. In 2019, we aim to make 25 percent of our fleet electrical and around 30 percent CNG. ”
Kahveci stated that they work on electric vehicle technology especially on metrobus lines and said, “We are working on a driverless vehicle that can work both longer and easier to manage. Of course, it is not easy, it is a difficult thing. There is a bridge problem. We cannot install a vehicle system driven by electricity from the catenary on the Bosphorus Bridge. We are working on a system that can also cross that area with a battery. When we reach a reliable technological level, we will announce this to the public and we will start working. ”
Kahveci, who stated that they increased the measures significantly after the recent bus accidents, said:
“We both started to perform emission checks and inspect vehicle maintenance management systems and their own authorized services. We separate vehicles with insufficient maintenance standards out of service. In the past, we were giving a working license by looking at the inspection conducted by TÜVTÜRK once a year. We have now updated the procedure. Now, we do their checks three times a year instead of once a year. Of course, the business has an economic dimension. For this, we cooperate with various institutions of the state. ”
- THE YOUNGEST AND TECHNOLOGICAL FLEET OF EUROPE
Under the scope of a tender held last week, Kahveci emphasized that the 125-gauge bus will be put into service one month later, “Our fleet age is 5,5. We have the youngest and most technological vehicle age in Europe. We are trying to make this sustainable. ”
Kahveci who attracted attention to the request of help from the transportation authorities abroad, said:
“From Pakistan to Saudi Arabia, from various European countries to Israel, officials come to us and receive information on improving transportation management, vehicle selection and maintenance management. This is how we cooperate with 20-25 countries every year. We also formed a group with cities like Istanbul, New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. We have joint meetings with them. Therefore, we continue our knowledge transfer through this solidarity group. ”
Kahveci, stated that they do not intend to make an arrangement on public transportation prices, they continue to subsidize students, the students of the metropolitan municipality every additional use of the payment authorities are paying an additional 15 cents, he added.
