After the meetings of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu with the people of Şemikler, the pedestrian underpass was completed and put into service. 160 bored piles and 191 concrete columns were used in the construction of the underpass, which was built with great difficulties due to the physical structure of the region. The underpass was built about 5 meters underground, 6 meters wide and about 32 meters of tunnel. The Metropolitan Municipality, which successfully carried out the suspension of the railway line, which is considered to be the most difficult part of the work, completed the landscaping works after all the reinforced concrete productions, including the tunnel, and offered the underpass to the use of the people of the region. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality also built an overpass with elevators and escalators in the same area for elderly and disabled citizens to use.
A SURPRISE VISIT FROM THE PRESIDENT KOCAOĞLU
Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu, who went to the area and made inspections, met with the residents and tradesmen of the district. Mayor Kocaoğlu, who chatted with the citizens and listened to their problems, said that they will take action by making the necessary inspections to eliminate other deficiencies in the area. Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu, who said that they could not implement the demands of the citizens in the area for the underpass to work with a moving walkway system due to the narrowness of the construction area, announced that they will make the necessary improvements and ensure that more people are happy.

The 80 km that İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has implemented together with TCDD. Level crossings were closed in order to provide safer transportation within the scope of Aliağa-Menderes Suburban System. Erdogan Akkaya Street, Central Mosque and 6418 Street passing in front of the marketplace were connected to each other with the underpass implemented in Şemikler. The Metropolitan Municipality continues to build underpasses and overpasses to ensure pedestrian and vehicle crossings in all distressed regions.
