Putin launches modernization of Trans Siberian Railway

Putin initiated the modernization of the Trans-Siberian Railway: the modernization of the Baykal-Amur Highway (BAM) and the Trans-Siberian Railway (Transsib) began in Russia. The projects were launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin today during a teleconference.

Putin stressed that the partners should win the status of a strong transport giant in which they work comfortably, comfortably and efficiently.

Celebrating the railroad employees with the 40 anniversary of BAM, the President said that the current capacity of the main road is no longer sufficient. Stressing that the modernization plans should inspire veterans and show that they do not work in vain, the Russian leader stressed that the BAM veterans have signed a huge and significant project for the country and that this project will continue to develop.

The construction of the BAM, which is a 3145 kilometer rail from Komsomolsk-na-Amure in the city of Ust-Kuta in the Khabarovsk region of Irkutsk region, began at 8 July 1974.
