126 Kilometers Suburban Line in Kayseri: TCDD authorized the Metropolitan Municipality to operate the suburban train in Kayseri. The suburban line between Yeşilhisar and Sarıoğlan districts, which will be made by using the 156 km line of the TCDD, will also pass through the Organized Industrial Zone.
Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Özhaseki said that he will sign a protocol with TCDD in the coming days and that a suburban train will be operated for the first time in Kayseri. It has been suggested that suburban expeditions on the railway line between Yeşilhisar-Melikgazi- Kocasinan and Sarıoğlan districts of TCDD, which are still existing, will prevent migration from the districts to the city center. Özhaseki said, “In particular, extending to the Organized Industry and free zone will facilitate transportation and reduce traffic density.”
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Council firstly discussed the Reconstruction and Public Works Commission reports regarding the zoning plan amendment requests. At the July meeting, the suburban line, which is planned to be built on the Yeşilhisar-Sarıoğlan route, also came to the agenda. The request of the TCDD General Directorate to construct the infrastructure and to give all kinds of protocol signing authority for the suburban line, which is planned to be purchased and operated by the Metropolitan Municipality, to President Mehmet Özhaseki was unanimously accepted.
