Alstom's New Vehicles for the South African Passenger Rail Authority: On July 8, 2014, Alstom presented the X'TRAPOLIS MEGA DESIGN for its new trains planned to be produced for the South African Passenger Railway Authority (PRASA). This design has been approved by the authorities and construction can now begin.

The Gibela Empowerment consortium will be responsible for supplying train sets over the next decade. 600 units of six vehicles will be provided. One of the biggest projects in the project.

Gibela% 61 Alstom Southern African Holdings consists of% 9 New Africa Rail and% 30 Ubumbano Rail. The first 20 train set will be produced in Brazil and the rest is in Gauteng. A new production facility will be built in Dunnottar for this project and production will start on 2017.
