The two-seater vehicles will be used in areas with heavy traffic.
The experimental system is planned to be activated until the end of 2015.
Within the scope of the project, passengers will call vehicles from their smart phones. The vehicles will take the passenger from the specified station and take them to the address.
In the experimental system, vehicles will speed up to 70 kilometers per hour. However, in the commercial application, this speed will be as high as 240 kilometers.
SkyTran has similar projects for other countries, including India and the USA. However, these will depend on the success of the pilot implementation in Israel.
SkyTran, headquartered at the American Space and Aviation Agency's research park in California, says it plans to revolutionize public transport.
Jerry Sanders, the company's chief executive officer, said that the deal with the Israeli Space and Aviation Department is a milestone for the project.
