10 PERCENT INCREASE IN 37 YEARS
Elvan emphasized that they give special importance to the construction of the bridge. Elvan stated that they completed the maintenance and repair of the 2003 bridge in the said period and said:
“We have also completed the restoration of 124 historical bridges in accordance with the original. With the works we have done, we have reached the number of 428 thousand 7 bridges with a total length of 601 kilometers that serve the vehicle traffic in our country. The total length of bridges and viaducts, which was 2003 kilometers before 311,3, increased by 37 percent. In 2013 alone, we completed the construction of 15 bridges with a length of 137 kilometers, 179 meters. We also completed the maintenance and repair of 83 bridges last year. As of today, our work continues on 64 bridges and viaducts with a length of 457 kilometers. We will build 2023 new bridges by 1.470. Thus, in 9 years, we will have reached the number of 573 bridges and viaducts with a length of 9 kilometers. "
THE LENGTH IS OPENING
Elvan stated that the construction of the Nissibi Bridge on the Adıyaman-Kahta-Siverek-Diyarbakır Road is at the final stage. Noting that the bridge on the road in question was flooded after the water impoundment in the Atatürk Dam and transportation could be provided by ferry, Elvan continued as follows: “Nissibi Bridge is a very important project in terms of socio-economic development of the region and will connect many provinces. That's why we attach great importance. Turkey also carries the distinction of being the third longest suspension bridge, this bridge will complete by the end of the year, I hope. "
Elvan stated that they will open the Ağın Bridge, which is under construction between Elazığ-Arapkir junction and Ağın Road and which Elazig has been waiting for years, this year. Reminding that the road in question was flooded after the Keban Dam and therefore, transportation to Ağın has been possible by ferry for years, Elvan said, “Therefore, we gave special importance to the construction of this bridge. We will put it into service within this year and we will provide uninterrupted land transportation to Ağın district again ”.
