Railroad displaced the cemetery

The railway cemetery has been displaced: The graves in the Karaköy Mahallesi Cemetery of Adapazarı are being moved within the scope of the Western Black Sea Railway Line Project, which is under construction between ADAPAZARI and Bartın.

In Adapazarı Karaköy Neighborhood, where there are approximately 70 graves, the railway will pass from Adapazarı to Karasu and from there to Bartın. Citizens, whose relatives are in this cemetery, open the graves, shroud the bones they unearthed, take them to another cemetery and bury them after the notification made by the mukhtar.

CASE: THE DECISION WILL BE APPLIED
Karaköy Neighborhood Headman Haşim Satilmi stated that some houses will be expropriated as the railway will pass through here, and said, “People get more emotional when there is a cemetery. However, whatever the decision will be applied. Cemeteries Directorate is doing the necessary work. The place where the current cemetery is located appears as pasture in records. "It's not a registered cemetery," he said. Nurettin Sönmez, whose relative is in Karaköy Cemetery, said, “We have been burying our relatives here for 20 years. Now, they said, 'The train will pass here, take the graves of your relatives from here.' We also take away our graves with our own means. "We are transporting our graves to the opposite side, where they show up next to the mosque." Salih Sönmez reacted to the passing of the railway through the cemetery.
