Ovit Tunnel to End at 2015

Ovit Tunnel will end at the end of 2015: The 2640 thousand 9 meter section of the Ovit Tunnel, which is under construction at the 600 altitude on the Rit-Erzurum road route, is completed.
Rize Governor Nurullah Çakır, AK Party Deputy Hasan Karal, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Şaban Aziz Karamehmetoğlu and a 60-person delegation examined the works in the Ovit Tunnel on site. Çakır was briefed by Highways Regional Director Selahattin Bayramçavuş.
Speaking to reporters here, Bayramçavuş stated that the Ovit Tunnel is the world's third largest road tunnel and said, “So far, we have made 9 meters of progress. We reached almost half of the tunnel. We aim to complete the excavations at the end of 600. Progress is being made in an extremely safe manner. There is no problem ”he said.
Bayramçavuş stated that the tunnel is a project realized with the breakthrough of Turkish engineers and workers at European and world standards and said:
“We are happy to bring such a project to our country. Ovit route, which is closed for 6 months when the tunnel is finished, will be open 24 hours a day every day of the year. The route will be shortened by 7 kilometers with the 200 thousand 3 meters Kırık Tunnel and the 200 thousand 45 meters Dallıkavak Tunnel, which is under construction between the Tunnel and İspir-Erzurum. The 250-kilometer Rize-Erzurum route will drop to 205 kilometers. This route will be the Mardin-Rize love road route. Our work continues extremely fast. "

Rize Deputy Hasan Karal stated that with the Ovit Tunnel, not only the transportation of vehicles will be provided, but also the cultures will meet each other, and said, “With this tunnel, we will enable the different social segments of our country, who have not been very close to each other due to one or another reasons, to meet and meet more closely. This tunnel will not only be a tunnel that will provide transportation for vehicles, but also a tunnel with a sociological aspect. By building these tunnels, we unite the hearts ”.
Governor Nurullah Çakır stated that he believes that big projects are realized with the protection from accidents and the measures taken, “Our government, ministers, and our friends working together with the Highways organization that carries out this business in the local area, and our Chamber of Industry and Commerce, which has been following the project with precision from the very beginning They have had their efforts.
