  1. Road Traffic Safety Symposium and Exhibition: Interior Minister Efkan Ala said, “Accident statistics show that we are successful in this area. However, when it comes to human life, statistics do not mean much. "No matter how small you reduce it, if there is death, you have a lot of work to do," he said.
    Ala started his speech at the opening of the 5th Road Traffic Safety Symposium and Exhibition organized by the General Directorate of Security at the ATO Congress Center, wishing mercy to those who lost their lives in the disaster in Soma and patience to their families. Minister Ala wished God's mercy to those who lost their lives in traffic accidents so far, and healed those who were injured in the accident on the TEM highway yesterday.
    Thanks to the organizers of the symposium, Ala emphasized that every project, idea and thought that scientists will put forward to increase traffic safety is important for them. Ala said, "The ideas to be put forward at the symposium will help us to provide better quality security service to our nation."
    All the staff of the Ministry of Interior in the symposium will express the new ideas to practice to express a task that expresses Ala, said:
    “During the AK Party governments, the achievements in transportation infrastructure, divided roads, increased transportation in the airline, high-speed train projects and our interest in the sea route have significantly reduced the accidents. Turkey continues its development initiative in the field of transport. Accident statistics show that we are successful in this area. However, when it comes to human life, statistics do not mean much. No matter how small you reduce it, if there is death, you have a lot of work to do. We are holding this meeting not on the achievements we have achieved, but on the achievements we have to achieve. "
    Addressing the scientists participating in the symposium, Ala said, “People who are committed to this work, you have knowledge and experience. We also have willpower. We consider the projects you will put forward as opportunities presented to us. Because the nation worked hard on you and us. Our authority gave you the opportunity to obtain information at universities. "Then we should all bring together what is in ourselves and serve the nation," he said.
    The General Director of Security Mehmet Kılıçlar said that traffic accidents, which are considered as a public health problem by the World Health Organization, are one of the most important problems for all countries. Kılıçlar said that accidents could not be prevented by means of single-handed police measures.
    After the speeches, Minister Ala gave awards to the winners of the competition organized by the General Directorate of Security to increase the traffic safety.
    In the symposium that will last until 23 May, a panel on “local governments and traffic” will be held and various academic papers will be presented.
    The fair, which is organized with the participation of various companies, most of which operate in traffic safety, can be visited until May 23.
