The bottom of the middle leg of the Haburman bridge in Kale Mahallesi, one of the most important historical buildings of Diyarbakır's Çermik district, collapses. Last year, bricks were poured from the ceiling of the Haburman Bridge, which is the symbol of the district and visited by hundreds of local and foreign people every year.
WAS RESTORED 6 YEARS BEFORE
The limestone bridge, which was built in 1179 during the Artukids Period and was open to vehicle traffic until 2-3 years ago, is one of the most important historical buildings of Diyarbakır's Çermik district. The application was made by Çermik District Governorship 6 years ago to the Grant Program for "Reducing Flood Risk in Flooded Areas in the GAP Region" jointly carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Governorate, and the application was approved by the EU and the restoration of the bridge was realized with approximately 900 thousand Euros.
THE MIDDLE EYES FOOT
Claims that restoration is not done well, material not based on its essence has come into question, as a result, bricks were started to fall out of the ceiling of the middle eye, the biggest eye of the bridge last year. This year, again at the foot of the middle eye began to collapse.
As a result of the attention of the citizens, it is observed that the stones come out and fall into the Sinek Stream. Citizens stated that the historical Haburman bridge, which is visited by hundreds of locals and foreigners every year, should be started immediately in order to reach future generations in the best way, “A scientific board should be established and what kind of restoration should be made on the bridge and restoration should be started quickly. Collapse in the middle foot poses a great risk. For this reason, the middle eye needs to be examined very carefully, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism should step in immediately and do what is necessary, ”he said.
ALLEGED RESTORATION IS NOT MADE GOOD
The citizens claimed that the start of the collapses on the bridge, which was restored with the grant received from the EU, strengthened the claims that the restoration was not done well, and that this issue should be examined by a commission formed by technical staff, and if any, the necessary criminal complaint should be made against those responsible.
95.5 METER LENGTH 5.5 METER WIDTH
The historic Haburman Bridge consists of three sections, one with a large main arch in the middle and one with a discharge on both sides, descending to the sides. Total length 95,5 m, width 5,5 m. The bridge consists of a two-stage triangular body. An attentive stone workmanship is displayed on the bridge.
