Funicular Design Criteria

Funicular Design Criteria: The attached file contains the minimum design criteria for Funicular Systems. In Section 2; In general, alınmış Geometric Design tır criteria are given for all Funicular Systems and in the following sections, Funicular Systems which are mainly included in urban mass transportation systems are discussed.

Funicular Systems; These are the systems to be used in high slopes, working with steel ropes and moving on the rail, working with two separate vehicles at the same time and effecting each of the wagons as counterweight.

The energy required for the needs of the vehicle will be supplied from the catenary or energy rail.

The system will have a fully shielded line and will not interfere with the level of level with other transport systems.

Typical features of the funicular system are listed below.
- Capacity: Maximum 15.000 passengers / hour / direction,
Operating speed: minimum 1,5 m / s, maximum 12 m / s,
- Complex line structure that can contain curves, variable slopes and transition zones,
- Direct operator control.

The provisions of the "2000/9 EC - Cable Transport Installation Regulation Designed to Carry People" and the safety rules specified in TS EN 12929-1 and TS 12929-2 standards will be complied with in the whole system.

  • TS EN 12929-1: Safety Rules for Overhead Line Facilities Designed for Transporting People - General Conditions - Part 1: Rules for All Facilities
  • TS EN 12929-2: Safety Rules for Overhead Line Facilities Designed for Human Transport - General Requirements - Part 2: Additional Rules for Reversible Two-Cable Overhead Ropes Without Carrier Wagon Brakes System design is generally defined by the national-international standards in the annex. institutions and organizations will comply with the relevant regulations and technical specifications.
