Volvo Trucks won the international design award: Volvo Trucks' new Volvo FH series won one of the most prestigious iF product design awards, influencing the jury of design experts among thousands of international products.
Only the best designs were determined in 60 categories this year by the iF Design Awards, which has been organized for 17 years to reward outstanding design achievements. The new Volvo FH series was awarded in the 1st category of “transportation design and special vehicles”. The award's evaluation criteria included design quality, degree of innovation, environmental impact, functionality and safety. Professor Fritz Frenkler, the chairman of the jury, said that he was impressed by the high quality of the designs, their passion for innovation, and the courage of manufacturers to follow their own design approach.
“This award is the result of several years of hard work and proof of the creativity and innovative spirit we have at Volvo Trucks,” said Rikard Orell, Volvo Truck Design Manager.

With its fuel-saving technology, effective ergonomics, superior handling, passive and active safety features, the new Volvo FH was produced to reflect the Volvo heritage, as well as to raise standards in the truck industry. “When designing the new Volvo FH series, the design and emotional aspect of the truck was very much emphasized; this is often not a high priority in commercial vehicle design, ”he continued. “Thus, an emotionally and practically satisfying tool has emerged to work and rest.”
The iF Design Awards are celebrated in Munich, Germany, with the participation of around 2000 guests from the world of international design, media, business and politics.
The ECR88D compact excavator of Volvo Construction Equipment also received a design award at the iF Design Awards. Thus, the Volvo Group reinforced its success with two awards.
