Dreams of slipping come true: Students who make free use of the slopes of the Polat Renaissance and Xanadu Snow White hotels at Palandöken Ski Center receive 5 hours of practical lessons every day under the supervision of 4 physical education teachers.
Students who meet Palandöken and skiing for the first time, they see from afar despite sitting in Erzurum, realize their dreams. Elementary school students, who climb to the peaks of the ski slopes with the facilities, learn how to ski on the 7-kilometer track accompanied by their teachers. Enverpaşa Elementary School student Aylanur Yılmaz, who said that she had been in Palandöken only once before, but she was scared and went down, said, “I overcame this fear thanks to my teachers. I learned to ski in a short time. I tell my experiences here to my friends at school and to my family at home. My only wish was to be able to ski. Now I am very happy that I made this dream come true. "My goal is to be a good skier," he said.
Evrenpaşa Primary School Physical Education Teacher Kadir Yurdakul stated that they took a mission in the project carried out to ensure socialization of the students and pointed out that the national skiers of Palandöken, where most of them appeared for the first time in their lives, will be tomorrow. Kadir Yurdakul pointed out that the students who ski for 20 hours in groups of 2 once a week develop self-confidence and said that the children's perspective on life has changed. Yurdakul said, “We teach skiing to students chosen from families with poor economic conditions. We will give the good ones to ski clubs. A charitable family will also provide scholarships to 10 successful students within the scope of the project ”.
