Ankara-Istanbul High Speed Train is also fast in mobile communication

The Ankara-Istanbul High Speed Train is also fast in mobile communication: The GSM operators, which foresee a large number of passengers on the Ankara-Istanbul YHT route, have started negotiations with the General Directorate of Turkish State Railways (TCDD) to provide uninterrupted mobile communication.
According to the information received by the AA correspondent, GSM-R, which was first implemented in Europe in 2000 and accepted as the "new European standard" in railway communication technology, was integrated into YHT infrastructures by the General Directorate of TCDD.
TCDD established this system to Eskişehir-Haydarpaşa line, which is the second part of Ankara-İstanbul YHT line, opened the infrastructure of the system for use by GSM operators. GSM operators and TCDD officials began negotiations before the line service.
The first part of Ankara-Istanbul YHT Project, Ankara-Eskişehir YHT line, Ankara-Konya and Eskişehir-Konya YHT lines, the GSM-R system, the next process in the second part of the Ankara-Istanbul YHT line will be launched in Eskişehir-Köseköy line. The system will then be installed on the Köseköy-Haydarpaşa line and on the Ankara-İzmir and Ankara-Sivas high-speed train lines under the same project.
TCDD has opened the towers it established for the communication of trains and mobile communication infrastructure so that operators can place common base stations. Especially due to the ruggedness of the section between Eskişehir and Haydarpaşa, the existence of many art structures increased the number of towers. Operators installed additional towers in some areas to enhance the comfort of mobile communications.
On the other hand, in accordance with the decision of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority to use a common base station, pollution was prevented by the installation of common base stations on this line of mobile enterprises, but the mountainous terrain increased the number of base stations.
TCDD officials have recently consulted with the 3 GSM operator to establish coverage in tunnels.
- GSM-R supports 550 kilometers speed
Thanks to the GSM-R system, fast and uninterrupted communication can be established between the control center, YHT sets and trains. If the operators demand, there is no interruption in mobile communication in YHTs thanks to the infrastructure, so passengers can have comfortable mobile communication and 3G-supported internet access. The system, which is integrated into the infrastructure of YHTs, offers uninterrupted communication at a speed of 250 kilometers per hour and supports a speed of 550 kilometers.
In the system, group conversations include group conversations, automatic train control (ATC) which controls the train and data communication between train and ground. Thanks to the voice announcement service, the whole group can be announced at the same time in the system, the emergency call for emergency situations is cut off, the emergency is allowed to talk.
GSM-R can work in conjunction with other communication and GSM systems. The system offers a variety of applications, such as instant information of passengers on all delays, number of passengers on board and / or on the train, ticket sales on the train and wagon tracking system.
