Haydarpaşa will be renewed in 500 days: The 500-day renovation of Haydarpaşa Train Station, which was severely damaged by the fire on its roof, will begin in February.
The historical Haydarpaşa Train Station, which was severely damaged in the fire that broke out due to the insulation work on its roof, will be completely renovated. TCDD took the first step for the renovation of Haydarpaşa Station building on 10 November 2010. TCDD officials, who applied to Istanbul Technical University, decided to carry out the improvement works for the close environment that appeals to the station passengers such as entrance and waiting halls, especially the roof floor, which has many construction problems since Haydarpaşa Train Station is not used. The fire that occurred on the roof of the station building on 28 November 2010 accelerated the restoration process of the 106-year-old historical building. TCDD has reached the final stage in the restoration works of Haydarpaşa Train Station, which was not operated due to the renewal of suburban lines within the scope of the Marmaray Project. TCDD Real Estate and Construction Department will organize a tender on January 28 and complete the renovation of Haydarpaşa Train Station. Within the scope of the restoration to be made, the roof of the station building will be renewed, and the exterior cleaning and maintenance will be done. In addition, the wooden joinery of the building will be renewed in accordance with the original. The work, which is planned to start next month, will be completed within 500 days.
