The impact assessment study of PGlobal, which successfully accomplished many projects in the field of transport economy; Because of the social and economic impacts of Marmaray; showed that the project had a significant rantability.
PGlobal has extensive knowledge and experience in economic impact analysis. he made the economic impact assessment of Marmaray, which connects the two continents for the first time in the world and has been listed among the most ambitious transportation projects in the world. Through the aforementioned assessment; The benefits of Marmaray were identified, digitized and translated into monetary values and the extent to which the project's benefits met the investment costs.
In the economic impact assessment model developed within the scope of the study; four benefits, including time savings, reduction in CO2 emissions, energy savings, and material casualties in traffic accidents and reduced lives. The future values of these benefits are estimated and TL equivalents are calculated. The model was developed using three different scenarios and for the next decade.
According to the results of the study, with the introduction of Marmaray; annual average 382 million pounds in the best scenario; In the scenarios where the medium and the expectations were realized at the minimum level, it was seen that a time saving of approximately 288 and 216 million pounds was expected respectively.
According to the model developed by PGlobal; By means of Marmaray, a noticeable reduction in CO2 emission will be achieved and the total number of 25.430 passenger cars and public transportation vehicles (buses, minibuses) on average is estimated. The average annual gain obtained from the decrease in emission was calculated as 1,9 million TL. According to the study, concurrently; In traffic accidents that are likely to occur in the next ten years, five people will be saved every year.
Marmaray is known to be the major contributor to Turkey's energy savings, the estimated energy savings; According to the scenarios of the best, middle and minimum realization scenarios, the average annual 64, 48 and 36 million TL will be determined.
According to the results obtained from the model; It was calculated that the internal profitability rate of Marmaray would be 16,2. On the other hand; Considering that Marmaray was made with taxes collected from the public; In return for each Turkish Lira investment, it was determined that there will be a return to the ring with TL 2,22.
As a result; The non-monetary contribution of Marmaray is estimated to be around 387 million pounds per year. Economic impact assessment was conducted with a conservative approach. In other words, it is based on the assumption that passenger demands will be at minimum level. In this context, if the realizations of the demand are more than the default, it is thought that the benefits will increase.
