Behç Erkin, the first General Manager of TCDD, was commemorated in Eskişehir: He fought shoulder to shoulder with Atatürk in the War of Independence, was the first General Directorate of TCDD and the Ministry of Public Works, was among the founders of the National Intelligence Agency and saved thousands of Jews during the Paris Embassy. Behiç Erkin was commemorated in Eskişehir, where his tomb was located on the 52nd anniversary of his death.
