The SIMATIC CP 1243-1 DNP3, a member of the TeleControl Professional product portfolio, connects the SIMATIC S7-1200 to a control center via the DNP3 protocol (Distributed Network Communication Protocol). The most typical area of ​​use is to transfer the measured values ​​to a central station in a wide open area. This remote control system can be used in sewage and water treatment plants, district heating networks and pumping stations as well as oil and gas supply, energy distribution and transportation and transportation systems.
The SIMATIC CP 1243-1 DNP3 sends the measured values, set values ​​and alarms regularly or on an event-based basis. By using the STEP 7 engineering software, the user only selects the relevant communication parameters by selecting the data sent by the SIMATIC S7-1200 CPU. Communication with the control center is based on the protocol 2 to 3 (2007 / 2009), including safety mechanisms for secure data transfer via wide area networks. The communication module has an e-mail function in addition to the data transfer. The SIMATIC CP 1243-1 DNP3 can record a time-tagged 64 bin value to prevent data loss during any disconnection. These values ​​are automatically transferred to the control center in the correct chronological order when the connection is reestablished. Thanks to its comprehensive diagnostic features, either locally specified with LEDs or in STEP 7 engineering software, the user is provided with a quick and accurate analysis of the station's status. The communication module is connected to the local communication network in open areas via the Ethernet interface. For remote communication between the local area network and the control center, suitable data transmission devices such as the Scalance M874 industrial 3G modem / router can be used.
