Giant project to end the BRT

The giant project to finish the sting of the Metrobus: The traffic intensity that infuriates Istanbul people is sometimes becoming so; even the shortest distance. Metrobüs, which is a project that relaxes the traffic in Istanbul in this sense, causes traffic to the metrobus which has a route outside the traffic due to the heavy demand of the citizens.
Answering our questions about Metrobus, IETT General Manager Dr.. Hayri Baraçlı explained the reason of her density and the unknown details to us as follows ...
A METROBUS IN THE 10 SANY
- What is the reason of the intensity of traffic experienced in the recent days and the intensity of the metrobus? How do you interfere with density?
Even though cars, taxis, buses, etc., which have to use the E5 highway route, have long queues, Metrobus provides transportation services much faster than other public transportation vehicles. Therefore, the passengers who will use the route in question prefer Metrobus instead of other transportation vehicles day by day due to the increasing traffic density. Another factor affecting the density of the metrobus is Sirkeci - Halkalı commuter train is not available. Sirkeci - Halkalı The demand for passengers using the suburban train line to use this line has increased. In addition, with the opening of Marmaray, passengers who were curious about Marmaray also used the Metrobus to increase the number of trips. Since Metrobus provides a significant time saving compared to other means of transportation, its intensity increases day by day. For this reason, there will always be density in the Metrobus line compared to other lines. Our IMM President has explanations about the underground transmission of this line. We believe that this intensity will decrease by half when our President's rail system project is realized.
We are dealing with the density experienced in the metrobüs: We are following the 44 clock on the Metrobus line in the 211 station in the 24 station. Peak hours outside the 30-45 seconds intervals at peak times 10-20 seconds are doing Metrobus voyages. However, in cases where the passengers intensify and accumulate, we direct our buses, which are kept in a suitable area or in the garage, to the bus stop. In particular, the transfer of passenger density is the first priority for the accumulation of passengers in these centers. Vehicles until the end of the intensity of this region to collect the passengers continue their voyage.
DO YOU HAVE A COMPLETE TO THE BRANDS?
- Is there a conspiracy to the robots? (As in Marmaray)
We do not think there is any conspiracy for the metrobus. We have another problem in the metrobus. When the density is experienced, some passengers go down the metrobus route between Beylikdüzü-Avcılar and close the metrobus route. In such cases where the metrobus is intense, the passengers do this action and actually harm themselves the most. Because the temporary distress caused by agglomeration at once makes the system even slower due to the action that passengers take. In such cases, our expectation from our passengers is to call us 444 1871 and inform us.
Are the vehicles insensitive?
- Are the vehicles in the garage? How does the system work?
-Metrobuses with full capacity (465 vehicle) on the basis of 7 / 24 provides transportation services. After completing the service, the BRT will withdraw to the garage for daily cleaning and periodic maintenance, if there is no fault. When the time comes, the expedition goes again. If there is a fault condition, the fault is cleared first, then other operations are performed. In addition, there is a limited number of vehicles in each garage that are kept waiting for emergencies.
- Will the fleet be expanded?
- We have 465 vehicles available on the metrobus line. We provide maximum service with these tools. We try to provide a better transportation service to our passengers by making extra (emergency code) departure times during peak hours, i.e. peak hours. For us, expanding the vehicle capacity that can be used in the metrobus line rather than expanding the vehicle fleet is a much more important criterion in terms of business administration. Currently, two lanes are used on the E5 road, only round-trip. This limits the number of vehicles to be used. Therefore, we are working on the maximum utilization of existing capacity rather than expanding the vehicle fleet. Therefore, we have plans such as purchasing high-capacity vehicles to use in the Metrobus line.
THE AIR CONDITIONS WERE CHANGED ONE OF THE MOST COMPLAINTS
There's also a shortage of ventilation. While some drivers pay attention, some of them can turn off the ventilation with arbitrary application. What kind of solution do you have?
-We were getting more frequent complaints about this issue in the previous years, but now we don't get much complaints about it. Many of our citizens, thanks to the air conditioners e-mails are coming. Because in 2012 we replaced all air conditioners in our vehicles with high capacity air conditioners. We also maintain their maintenance periodically. We made a film application to our cars on the Metrobus line so that they could not pass the sun in summer. So there's no shortage in the technical sense. It is not possible for our drivers to shut down the ventilation in a malicious manner. Maybe there's a malfunction. Otherwise, all our drivers received instructions especially for the full capacity of air conditioners.
LAST PROJECT
-Metrobus is a very nice investment, but occasionally experiencing disruptions. What kind of responses do you get from these problems and what kind of solutions do you produce?
-Metrobus is a very busy line, so people are often tense. In fact, this can be understood from the way passengers get on the vehicles in the morning and evening hours. The patience and tolerance of the citizen according to similar situations in normal lines is not experienced in the Metrobus line when there is a wait due to crowd, malfunction, accident or a problem related to security developing outside of us. The expected 5 minutes in the Metrobus can reach people much longer. The crowd and the tension of the people at the station can psychologically make the citizens even more nervous. Then the complaints that are reflected on us also increase. In such cases, we immediately supplement our stations and send our vehicles. We inform our passengers with the announcements we make. If there is an accident, we intervene in the event with our emergency response vehicles waiting in appropriate areas within the line within 5 minutes. Currently, we have signed a 24-month protocol with TÜBİTAK to increase the efficiency of both our Metrobus and all bus lines and take measures against future problems. With this project we started, we will optimize our metrobus and all bus lines and create a more flexible line structure. In addition, this work that we carry out, metro, tram, train, seaway etc. of all our lines. It is also of great importance in terms of integration with other systems. In the event that this project, which we believe will be an exemplary model that reduces the waiting and travel time at the stops, the entire transportation system under the responsibility of IETT will be comfortable, fast, reliable and integrated to meet the increasing demand for travel.
THIS IS A GIANT PROJECT OF TUBITAK
With the “Flexible Transport Line Project” to be carried out by TÜBİTAK for IETT, studies on comfort, speed, efficiency and capacity increase will be carried out on metrobus and bus lines.
The "Flexible Transportation Line Project" protocol was signed between TÜBİTAK and IETT in order to investigate the problems experienced in metrobus and bus lines in Istanbul and to find methods to solve them. Within the scope of the signed agreement, various arrangements will be made by taking an x-ray of public transportation in Istanbul.
The “Flexible Transport Line Project” will consist of two stages. In the first phase, which will last six months, system analysis, modeling and simulation studies will be carried out to increase the capacity of the metrobus system. In the second stage, bus lines will be examined in terms of stops, passengers and vehicles. The project, which aims to carry passengers more effectively and comfortably, will take 2 years and will consist of an intensive work package. It was emphasized that the work to be done is an optimization process that will increase the capacity in both metrobus and bus lines.
It is thought that metrobus and bus systems that will increase the capacity, efficiency and comfort of the project results will contribute to the solution of the chronic traffic problem.
