The high-speed train will add a lot to Edirne economically: Edirne Mayor Hamdi Sedefçi said that the high-speed train, which is expected to be implemented in 2017, will add a lot to Edirne in economic terms.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Sedefçi claimed that it would be easier to reach Edirne from Istanbul with the high-speed train project than the transition from the European side to the Anatolian side.
Stating that it is known that cities with comfort and speed in transportation are always developing and getting rich, Sedefçi said, “When the Istanbul-Edirne high-speed train project is realized, the transportation time will be reduced to 55 minutes. This is the perfect time to travel from one metropolis to another. In this way, we will be the front garden of Istanbul ”.
"Let the elite class work in Istanbul, live in Edirne"
Sedefçi said that they are already preparing for the advantages of the future and they have prepared the urban transformation project in the industrial bazaar in this direction.
Stating that they wanted to make Edirne a center of attraction, Sedefçi said:
I am trying to attract Istanbulites here. Let the elite of Istanbul come here. I want Edirne to be the city of the working and rich. Let them live here, let them go to their work in Istanbul in the morning by train, spend the money in Edirne in the evening and on the weekend, there is this chance in Edirne. We will talk about this with our industrialists. The place where the new industrial site will be built is also ready. We will open this place for development and try to attract the wealthy people of Istanbul here.
