Transportation Project Protocol Signed Between TÜBİTAK and IETT: With the “Flexible Transportation Line Project” to be realized by TÜBİTAK for IETT, works on increasing comfort, speed, efficiency and capacity in metrobus and bus lines will be carried out.
The "Flexible Transportation Line Project" protocol was signed between TÜBİTAK and İett in order to investigate the problems experienced in metrobus and bus lines in Istanbul and to find methods to solve them. The "Flexible Transportation Line Project" launched with the signing ceremony will consist of two stages. In the first phase, which will last six months, system analysis, modeling and simulation studies will be carried out to increase the capacity of the metrobus system. In the second stage, bus lines will be examined in terms of stops, passengers and vehicles. The project, which aims to carry passengers more effectively and comfortably, will take 2 years and will consist of an intensive work package. At the meeting, it was emphasized that the work to be carried out is an optimization process that will increase the capacity in both metrobus and bus lines.
It is thought that metrobus and bus systems that will increase the capacity, efficiency and comfort of the project results will contribute to the solution of the chronic traffic problem.
Speaking at the protocol signing ceremony, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Yücel Altunbaşak stated that Istanbul is a megacity, “Like all megacities, Istanbul has a traffic problem. We want to contribute scientifically to the problem and to reduce the traffic problem to a certain extent. We are launching this project with Iett in order to increase the quality of life for the people of Istanbul. ”
IETT General Manager Hayri Baraçlı, on the other hand, stated that their work is not only about the metrobus but also about the whole public transportation, and said: “People-stop optimization and improvements and optimizing them according to the number of passengers are on our agenda. By taking the data about the waiting times and travel times at the stops as a whole, we will process them and turn them into information and accordingly, we will try to improve the system continuously. In our study with TÜBİTAK, we aim for a flexible public transportation model. The most important factor among these is the planning of public transportation according to working hours.
