Final test drive in Marmaray: The Minister of Transport took Marmaray to the media representatives before the opening on October 29. For now, the travel time between the two continents is reduced to 4 minutes with Marmaray, which consists of Ayrilik Çeşmesi, Üsküdar, Yenikapı, Sirkeci and Kazlıçeşme stations. Marmaray consists of a 60 kilometer route with a depth of 13,6 meters from the surface on the Bosphorus, where there are two opposite currents. It is also the deepest immersed tube tunnel in the world.
Considering the seismic, upturned currents and ship traffic at sea, the measures taken for the project, which have serious risks in terms of safety, reduce every conceivable risk to zero.
WATER LEAKAGE CONDITION
A shadow with a risk of liquefaction on the sea floor was detected. On top of that, cement injection columns were installed and the ground was petrified. In other words, a ground that turned into rock was formed under the tubes. However, 11 tubes placed under the sea were combined with gaskets, as Minister Yıldırım called it. These contos are said to completely prevent the risk of water leakage.
TUNNELS WILL DANCE DURING EARTHQUAKE
Marmaray was built with 7.5 magnitude earthquake resistant materials and technology. In addition, equipment that enables them to move together was placed between the seals in case of an earthquake. As soon as earthquake motion is detected, a signal will be sent to the earthquake institute in Kandilli. At the same time, the signal will go to the main control center. If there is a train on the line, it will be provided to the nearest station.
In case of fire and similar situations in any tunnel, 1.5 meter wide walking bands were formed to get off the train and reach the nearest station.
Minister Yıldırım also announced to the media representatives the toll fee of Marmaray. Accordingly, the full ticket price will be 1.95 TL and the student ticket price will be 1.40 TL. In addition to special pass cards, Istanbulcards can also be used to get on Marmaray.
Transport Minister Binali Yıldırım showed Marmaray to media representatives before the opening on October 29th. After the briefing made by Binali Yıldırım and his delegation, we went to Marmaray line to pass from Yenikapı to Üsküdar. Firstly, a break was made in the treadmill in the middle of the tube line, which was designed for the evacuation of passengers in emergency situations. Photos were shared on social media at a depth of 60 meters taken by the internet.
Later, the arrival point was taken to the surface in Üsküdar and investigations were made.
