Storm affected rail transport in Germany: The storm and downpour that hit Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia (KRV) state paralyzed transportation in the state. There were accidents and disruptions, especially in railway transportation.
Because of the adverse weather conditions that took effect from last night, some of the areas were damaged due to accidents and rails.
Cancellations and delays in train services were observed in the cities of Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Oberhausen and Solingen.
In Essen city center, trains were canceled until noon and passengers were advised to follow the warnings made by the authorities.
Intercity train services between Essen and Bochum stopped shortly. Connected to Dortmund was provided via Gelsenkirchen. Between Gelsenkirchen and Oberhausen, passengers were transported by bus instead of canceled train services. A train to the main railway station in Solingen crashed into a tree crashing into the tracks. The damaged train was damaged and there were no injuries.
Stressing that the effect of the storm on rail transport will continue for a while, the passengers wanted to be careful.
