After 62 years of Kars Rail Station Refreshing: Turkish State Railways (TCDD) on the network 'last stop' in Kars railway line known as refreshing Station. The work on the Erzurum-Kars railway line, which was opened in 1951 and has not been touched for 62 years, has come to an end.
In the first phase of the renewal of the 2011-kilometer transportation network that TCDD started from Erzurum to Kars in 217, 53 kilometers between Erzurum and Köprüköy, and in 2012 the 105 kilometers section of Köprüköy-Sarıkamış up to Çatak was renewed. This year, it is aimed to complete the works from Sarıkamış-Çatak to Doğukapı station on the Armenian border. During the replacement work, 250-meter-long rails are laid on 108-pound concrete sleepers. 80 workers, 9 civil servants, 7 operators and 3 technical personnel participate in the work.
Railways Road Renewal (POZ) Chief Uğur Şahin said, “On May 27, we completed the 52-kilometer section from Sarıkamış Çatak village and reached Kars Station. "We are planning to reach the stage to Akyaka's Doğukapı border station in 2.5 months."
