Recalling that the construction was targeted, he noted that the total railway network would reach 25 thousand kilometers. Emphasizing that the Ankara-İzmir YHT line, the foundation of which will be laid, will make a significant contribution to the development of the east-west axis of the railways, Yıldırım said, “When the 624 km Ankara-İzmir YHT project is completed, the travel time between our two major cities decreases to 3 hours and 30 minutes. Ankara-Afyonkarahisar section of the first phase of the Ankara-İzmir YHT project, whose foundation was laid, consists of a 287 km corridor. Polatlı-Afyonkarahisar section, which is separated from the 120th kilometer of the current YHT line Ankara-Konya road, is 167 kilometers long. With this stage of the project, a high-speed train network is being established in the Ankara-Eskişehir-Afyonkarahisar-Konya quadrangle. Ankara-Afyonkarahisar is going down to 1 hour 30 minutes ”.

Providing information about the remaining part of the project between Afyonkarahisar and İzmir, Minister Yıldırım said, “It consists of Afyonkarahisar-Uşak and Uşak-Manisa-İzmir stages. Construction tender for Afyonkarahisar-Uşak stage was launched. The construction projects of the Uşak-Manisa-İzmir stage are about to be completed, and the construction tender will be launched when completed. ”
