22.4 Billion Dollars Riyadh Metro Project

In Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, three international companies won the metro tender with a bid of $22.4 billion. With a length of 176 kilometers, the Riyadh metro project will have 85 stations and 200 thousand people will be transported per hour. The contract ceremony of the public transport project was held in the capital with the participation of Riyadh Regional Emir, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Riyadh Emir said that this project is important in terms of facilitating the lives of citizens and easing the transportation burden on their shoulders. Pointing out that the population, which is approximately 6 million for now, will increase to 10 million in the next 8.5 years, Prince Khalid stated that the number of vehicles registered in Riyadh this year is 1.5 million.

Riyadh subway, which is planned to be built for several years, will start operating five years later. With the first stages, it is aimed to reduce the crowd on the roads with high traffic in Riyadh.
