It has been announced that China, Iran and Kyrgyzstan can also participate in the Turkmenistan Afghanistan Tajikistan railway project, the foundation of which has been laid. It is stated that the geography of the project, which has started to interest all Central Asian countries, may expand.

According to the news in the Turkmen press, the railway has gained a special importance in freight transportation in the Central Asian region. As the Kazakhstan Turkmenistan Iran railway project is coming to an end, the foundation of a new project has been laid. It is expected that the interest in the Turkmenistan Afghanistan Tajikistan railway project, which has turned into a strategic and economic project for the participating countries, will increase. It is said that China, Iran and Kyrgyzstan may also participate in this project in the coming period.

The 400-kilometer-long project is expected to be completed in 2015. Turkmenistan's railwaymen will lay rails in a certain part of Afghanistan that belongs to the project. This project will enable Central Asia to reach international markets through its sea ports.

With the completion of Turkmenistan, TransAfgan and Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway projects, it will have 8 railway crossing with its neighbors (2 with Iran, 1 with Kazakhstan, 2 with Afghanistan and 3 with Uzbekistan).

Thanks to these two projects, 25 million tons of cargo will be transported every year from the Eurasian continent, from China to the center of Europe, from Afghanistan to Russia. South Asian countries will save 8 days from freight transportation and at the same time reduce container cost by up to $500. For this, South Asian countries India and Pakistan need to optimize their systems to take advantage of Central Asia's ever-growing rail network. – Newsactual
