The Turkmenistan government started the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway, which also covers Afghanistan. The construction of the Atamurat Imamnazar (Turkmenistan) – Akina (Afghanistan) line is expected to be completed by 2015.

He also addressed this issue at the Council of Ministers, chaired by Turkmenistan President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov. Turkmenistan will build its own project with local resources. Within the scope of the project, a railway station will be built at the 42nd kilometer of the railway line in Gülistan and at the 83rd kilometer at the Imamnazar location. The Ashgabat administration will continue this line from its border to the Akina settlement of Afghanistan. In addition, two railway bridges are expected to be built on this route.

The foundation of the project was laid on June 5 with the participation of Turkmenistan President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Tajikistan President Imamali Rahman.

While Turkmenistan has not experienced any financial difficulties in the construction of its part in this project, Afghanistan and Tajikistan are waiting for help from international and regional financial institutions in this regard. The Tajik administration knocked on the door of the Asian Development Bank in this regard. – newsreel
